How to Use Swarakshit
Follow these 5 simple steps to detect gas leaks accurately and keep your home safe
Charge & Power On
Before first use, charge the device fully using the included USB cable. The LED turns green when fully charged (approx. 2 hours). Press and hold the red power button for 2 seconds to switch on. The LCD display will light up and show a startup sequence.
Wait for Sensor Warmup (30 Seconds)
After powering on, wait 30 seconds for the electrochemical sensor to reach operating temperature. The display will show dashes or a countdown. Do NOT start testing until the warmup is complete — early readings may be inaccurate. The device will beep once when ready.
Scan Near Gas Points
Hold the device by the grip and move the silver metal sensor tip to within 5–10 cm of potential leak points. Move slowly — about 5 cm per second — to give the sensor time to respond. Check these key areas in order:
- LPG cylinder valve & pressure regulator
- Rubber pipe connections at both ends
- Gas burner nozzles and knobs
- Gas geyser pipe connections
- PNG meter and pipe joints
Read the LCD Display
The LCD continuously shows the ambient gas concentration level and temperature. Watch for changes as you move the sensor:
- Normal reading — Low numbers, no alarm. Area is safe.
- Rising numbers — Approaching a gas source. Slow down and probe carefully.
- "Hi" on display + loud beep — Gas leak detected at this point!
If Leak Detected — Act Immediately
If the device shows "Hi" and alarms:
- DON'T panic — stay calm
- Turn OFF the gas cylinder valve or main PNG valve immediately
- Open ALL windows & doors — ventilate the area
- Do NOT use electrical switches, lighters, phones near the area
- Evacuate everyone from the room
- Call your gas agency and a licensed plumber for inspection

FAQs
Swarakshit detects all combustible gases including LPG, PNG, CNG, methane, propane, butane and other hydrocarbons. It is NOT designed to detect CO (carbon monoxide) — for CO, you need a dedicated CO alarm.
LERC (Liquefied Petroleum Gas Equipment Research Centre) is India's premier government-recognized body for testing and certifying LPG safety equipment. LERC certification means the device has been independently tested for accuracy, sensitivity, and durability — the gold standard in India.
The built-in rechargeable battery lasts 8–10 hours of continuous use. For typical home use (5–10 minute daily checks), the battery lasts several weeks between charges. USB charging takes approximately 2 hours to full.
Swarakshit is designed first for homes and kitchens. It may also be useful in selected small commercial kitchen setups where regular combustible gas checks are needed. If you have a specialized or bulk requirement, contact us before ordering so we can guide you properly.
Every Swarakshit device comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty and a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy. Contact us at info@rakshit.net.in or call 9529154548.
Weekly — around LPG cylinder and rubber pipe connections. Monthly — around all gas appliances including geysers. Immediately — after any new appliance installation or if you smell even a faint gas odour.
If you already smell strong gas, DO NOT use any electrical device including Swarakshit. Immediately turn off the main gas valve, open all windows, evacuate, and call your gas agency. Use Swarakshit for routine preventive checks when no visible leak is apparent.
